School Meals...Refunds?

Hi
Does anyone know if you are supposed to get a refund for school meals if the school does not open for the day? we pay for the school meals on Monday, if school doesnt open wed/friday due to snow are they supposed to refund this?
I only ask because in my daughters first term if she was off sick the school sent home a refund the following week in cash (we pay by cheque), this term they have not done this and not refunded due to snow closures. I cant find anything on their website and school is closed this week so cant ask...its not a huge problem just that I suddenly thought about it and wondered
thanks

I just sent in a day (or 2 or 3) less money the following week with a note explaining I'd already paid for X number of school meals so I was paying the balance0

thanks, I should probably do this...what I tend to do is write all the cheques for the approaching half term in one go because everything tends to be a rush during term time with work and everything. I should probably speak to the school office and see what they say
thanks0 -
my daughter pays for dinners and gets a ticket for every day she pays at the beginning of the wk....if she is off or the school closes..the ticket is still there to use for next time when she fancies school meals. You may walk and you may run

This is what I did when our school closed in January. I just put less money in for the next week and wrote on the envelope why.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
Normally secretaries do the daily dinner numbers and carry forward any unused meals in this mythical mass of calculations that make my break ache when I see them all on the dinner register. I'm guessing if you ring the office you'll find it's been carried forward and you'll have a little "credit" on there - office should be able to tell you, or the class teacher might be able to check if it's a time of the day when the dinner register is in the classroom (before it's been sent down to the office for the morning).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I've always been given a refund if my son takes a day off sick or if the school is closed. I think it's down to individual school policy though. In the case of sickness absence, I could understand the school keeping the money - because presumably the food was still ordered and cooked as if the child was going to be there.0

My school doesnt give the money back as such but we just send a day less the following week and it gets carried over. I have never had to pay for a meal he hasnt had. :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

They will either carry the surplus forward or refund you. my kids school carries it forward for so long (the end of term poss) before refunding. Because I pay several weeks in advance sometimes if son has been on school trips or ill I'll go in to the office and double check where I am with the money.0

Hmmm thanks for this interesting subject, I'll have to look into this with my kids school, I always pay by cheque for the coming half term and have never made a deduction for previous sick days or trips )no snow days they always seem to manage to open much to the boys disguist). I had always assumed that as I paid in advance the money was just lost when the lunch place wasn't used.0

Exact numbers don't go to the kitchens until the dinner registers have been done on a morning anyway.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
