Thanks Cat but that one doesnt cover notice pay and is it the same amount if the employer cant pay?
Thats the statutary minimum that must be paid.

Hi Louise,
Cat's calculator will give you his redundancy entitlement which he can claim from the state if his employer does not pay.
For notice pay look to see what his contract entitles him to. The maximum statutory notice period for his long service would be 12 weeks - see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/RedundancyAndLeavingYourJob/Resigningorretiring/DG_175837 and scroll down to notice your employer must give you.
Insolvent employer info is at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/Pay/DG_10026695
Looks like he should be able to claim the redundancy and notice pay from the state funds if the employer cannot pay.
Good luck with it.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -

...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

Nah. To be honest, I can't think of a more dull area to work in media wise - Life Insurance and Pensions.........yawwwnn....it would all be strategic, technical, naval gazing stuff. Not me I'm afraid, not even for that money.

Lou - as a very rough guide, my ex got 11.5k redundancy. That was for 17 years at the minimum allowed redundancy package and he was 44 and it included 12 weeks notice. The split was about 6k and 5.5k between the pay off and the redundancy money.
