My 2 strawberry plants have been flowering and i now have strawberries growing
SO pleased with myslef LOL!
Anyway the 2 plants are in pots and they have 2 runners each which appear to be letting off another plant on each runner (large leaves looking very healthy). I have just left the runners to hang loose on the patio so they are not pegged to earth or getting any kind of soil as there is none.
Can i cut these runners and place the runners into pots? if so where do i cut the runners or does it not matter?DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

I wouldn't cut them off until they have roots. If you can't get them to reach a small pot of compost you could try bending the runners around and pegging them into the pot with the parent plant. Later this year, knock the plants out and carefully separate into individual plants and give them their own pots.0 -

Been a bit depressed about garden last week or so.. salad got green fly, nightmare trying to keep everything watered, puppy eating plants!! And not enough space for everything. But feeling a bit more optimistic now.
Spuds are looking good, had a root round today. When will they be ready? They were planted about april time, they stopped flowering a week or two ago, but leaves still looking healthy.0 -
I put a bit of compost around the root bit then wrap around it with cling film easy peasy
:D
Hope it helps you
Looks like you missed it but this was another solution to what to do with runners posted a few pages ago. Handy for hanging baskets and stuff where you can't have pots nearby.0 -
I had a nosey in my potatoes yesterday. I have mine in those green potato sack things from Wilko. I dug into the earth about a foot in all having a gentle feel about to see if I could feel anything and see if they were ready but all I could feel was 1 solitary golfball about a foot down. I'm guessing there are more potatoes beneath that again but it's a little disappointing lol0

My potatoes have been disappointing too.... I think next year I'm only going to grow new potatoes and that will do me!
Well.... I ordered a load of seeds today from a really great ebay shop 100% feedback and free postage for six or over packets of seeds ( I got about twenty seeds so....LOL) but more importantly they have EVERYTHING I needed so decided to stock up on all the ones that I can use next year! Well everything that will store ok
Anyway I best be off! Going to soothe my sore back in a hot bath!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790
