Gmail for me!
Other 'free' accounts have disappeared, lycos et al.
Others tie you in, Tiscali et al.
Cannot see Google changing the status quo as they don't need to, they advertise to you when you email (by scanning them). Only going to get better and with more apps i reckons!0 -
Some of the ones I use are Google, Hotmail and Yahoo and I don't find much difference between all of them.0

+1 for google also.. this is what I use every day.
Like a previous comment above I also have several Google Apps for Domains accounts which I pass all my personal/company email into using the goolge servers. Main reason: Spam. Google Spam filters are excellent and I recommend this to everyone and all my customers.
Currently you have 7GB of disk space available which is a lot and it increases every day!
They also offer IMAP which either costs money with other email providers or they dont offer it... IMAP lets you use outlook / web based email client or your mobile phone etc and synronises your emails so that if you delete them on your mobile phone, it deletes them from your server and outlook automatically, if you mark an email unread on the gmail web client it also gets marked unread on your phone etc.
gmail is very very good... highly recommended!0 -
Ive been with Yahoo for years and not had any problems. Also know a few people with Hotmail who have experienced issues!0

Google mail all the way, and especially if you use Chrome then the experience is very very quick. However, in the end, differences in mail service won't matter hugely if you use something like Mozilla Thunderbird and do everything through this.0
