Bonus withdrawal when closing easymobile account
Options
I've just closed my easymobile account as i have a new sim ready to use and dont want the old ones hanging around. Made sure i had about £7 credit left so that i was covered for th £5 "admin" fee.
I've now just had an email saying my account is £4.07 overdrawn! Looked on my account page on the website and it shows "Bonus withdrawal £11"
What the heck is that? I cant believe i now owe them £4 when i had £7 credit. I wish i hadnt bothered to close it now.

From their T&C
8.3 You agree to pay us promptly on termination of the Agreement, any monies and/or Charges outstanding at the date of termination. We will return any amount of your advanced payment remaining, after we have deducted such outstanding monies and/or Charges from the advance payment, either by sending a cheque, by bank transfer to you or by returning the amount to the credit card used for topping-up your Account. We will charge you a small fee to cover any administrative costs we incur in returning such monies to you. Any free airtime which has been credited to your Account as part of an introductory or promotional offer or bonus scheme will not be paid out to you as a cash equivalent on termination of this Agreement or otherwise and is non-transferable.
They have withdrawn Free Airtime. Their have been plenty of warnings about their practices on this site, you must have missed them.0 -
So if l topped up my account then left it in credit, then closed it it would be ok.0

Oh dear. Well i'll know not to cancel the sims in future. Live and learn. Any idea how they will bill me? Will it just come off the card i paid for the sim with?
Just had an email back from easymobile to say it was definitely free airtime i had had, but they have now refunded it and my balance is zero and the account will be closed with nothing owing. Thumbs up for Easymobile. But a slapped wrist for me for not reading the t&c's properly
Thanks for your replies.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -

Did you close your account online or via telephone? Did you enquire via email about the charges or did they correct it automatically?
I am confused about the terms and conditions. The ones stated above simply say that the free airtime will not be returned to you as there is no cash equivalent.....etc
It does not say they will withdraw any free airtime on account closure does it?? Any ideas anyone?0 -
I know my brain hurts as well0

there is no withdrawal of airtime. the system does these things automatically and when you speak to customer service they sort it out. The best way to close account is with balance 0 as the £5 fee is only for sending back any credit you might have.0

Oh right, l was under the impression that you were charged a fiver just for cancelling.0 -
Yeah me too. Thats why i closed it when i still had credit. I closed it by emailing retentions and also queried why they had made my balance a - figure. Responses were quick and helpfulLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0

I've opened and closed several accounts with easymobile. If you have more than £5.00 in credit remaining you get charged the fee, anything less and it's free. I always close my account when it's around £1.00 in credit.0

Keep in mind that everytime you open an account they do a credit check in your name. Thats not so good for your credit rating.......0
