Easyjet flight cancellations....

Hi, my son & I were due to fly to Geneva from Bristol with easyjet on Sat 13th, as soon as we got to the check in queue we were directed to their info desk.....we didn't get that far before one of their staff came along the line passing out the Customer's Rights for cancelled flights document...he indicated that we would be eligible for the EUR250 compensation and didn't know the reason for the cancellation.

After 2 days of regular calls to the call centre I finally got through to speak with someone, he agreed to refund the full price immediately but said we were not entitled to the EUR250 compensation as the "primary reason" for the cancellation was adverse weather, although he did say that the specific reason for the cancellation was the flight crew being out of hours.

Can anybody give me any guidance as to whether I am still entitled to the wider compensation or am I restricted to the cost of flights and car hire cancellation costs.

    There is also some discussion by other passengers who suffered disruption at the hands of easyjet on 13th Feb on the Flightmole forum. See this thread

    Various ( apparently changing) reasons have been given to those other passengers including "computer problems"-some of the passengers discussing the matter there are also looking at advanced claims against EasyJet.
  • after having much of the same experience as above I decided to drive to Liverpool airport to see if my flights were cancelled. They were! so I spent return petrol money, £1 parking charge, 2 hrs of my time (this was after the 2hr phone call and cost of £12, for a 10 song tape to be played that was of such poor quality it was as fed up as I was!) to change my flights.

    I fly back from Barcelona to Liverpool on the 22.25pm flight on 1st June incase anybody else is on the flight.
