returning virgin media customer waiting time?

hey, after a very loyal and long time decided to leave virgin media, wasnt very happy with what they offered (or best to say lack of) to keep me. So currently with sky broadband, but i know there service will improve (broadband speeds) what i was wondering is how long do i have to wait to go back as a new customer, and what is the best action to take hopefully in summer/ autumn. Do they keep records of the house number as the account was in my dads name.

I vaguely remember somewhere that they treat you as a new customer after 3 months.0
