Mobile Phones - Options in the car....

I've just bought a Sony-Ericsson K800 and want to use it in the car handsfree. Can anyone offer any advice regarding products they are happy with and the pros and cons of using a ear-piece as opposed to speakers.

Any opinions will be greatfully received. Thank you.

do you just want a bluetooth head set or a full car kit?

I don't know - what are the major differences i.e. cost, reliability, clarity, ease of installation etc.

Any phone shop will sell you a bluetooth headset for around £18.99 upward.

You just pair it with your phone, and recharge it as required.

You can get a simple Parrot bluetooth car kit (EVO) for £69.99 as for fitting it is straight forward if you understand basic car electrics.

However, remember that all a bluetooth headset does is take your hands off the phone. It doesn't provide your phone with an aerial, so the reception is usually poor. The car's metal bodywork insulates the handset from receiving a signal.

A properly fitted car kit comes with an external aerial, allowing the phone to communicate properly. They're more expensive, but if you cover any distance driving, it's a worthwhile investment.

I've had too many conversations with people in cars using bluetooth earpieces. It's worse than them being on a train.
