TALK TALK Can they be serious???

Long story short, on a DMP, had to move all DDs to new bank account, very cautious, moved them all by phone awaited written confirmation, then cancelled old DD. Was checking that they were all going through last on Tues (this week) and noticed that Talk Talk had not taken Jan bill, phoned Talk Talk, spoke (eventually) to nice lady, don't worry she says, we missed DD date, will take Jan/Feb in Feb, not problem, thanks for phoning. DD phones me at work yesterday morning to say that the broadband had been cut off, dead, gone, not working.
Phoned Talk Talk again when got home, spoke to rudest man on plant, possibly solar system, "we cut off people who don't pay their bills" explained sitution, not the slightest interested, "just pay the bill and stop moaning" blood pressure shoots out top of my head. Demand to speak to a manager, she at least listens and eventually after a great deal of repeating because of the different accents, she actually checks her files, OH yes, you phoned, the operative gave you the wrong information, you need to pay the Jan bill now - aaargh. Paid it, got £5.00 discount for more BP pills and confirmed again that the DD is set up. Is this anyway to run a business? Why is this "business" still afloat and why can' the find a least one polite person?:eek::eek: No choice in provider, its either the dreadful BT or the dreadful but cheaper Talk Talk:eek::eek::eek:

You are right to avoid the dreadful BT broadband but if you can get ADSL from BT there must be at least 100 and probably more alternative providers - they buy from BT repackage in their own way and resell so you have no contact with BT for your broadband.

Correct, why do people think that they must take BT Broadband?

    Beats me.

we apparently have an unreconstructed exchange which is famous throughout Glasgow as being the worst place for broadband. Our choice is either BT or Talk Talk or someone else at a huge cost because BT haven't done something to the exchange. I tried to get Plusnet and it was three times as expensive as Martin was advertising, same with Sky. So we are unfortunately stuck.

I had a similar problem with my DD to TalkTalk, even though I’d put all the details on the website when we first applied, and was cut off one Saturday morning after two months with them. I phoned TalkTalk to say what had happened and spoke to a really nice man and paid the outstanding balance over the phone by credit card. He apologised to me at least three times for the inconvenience and said that he could there and then reconnect us but to give it at least 24 hours, then added in reality it only takes a couple of hours so try after 1pm. He then took our bank details and it was sorted, broadband came back on at 11am the same day.

Although this lapse with the DD was an irritation, on the other hand it did give me a chance to try out TalkTalk’s customer service. The call was free and the response, in my case, was excellent which is more than I can say for BT customer service which was dreadful.
  • I switched from Bt to talktalk six months ago, went through the website on talktalk to get broadband and phone too, same happened to me in that the bank details didn’t go through. When I checked my account on talktalk no bank details so I phoned up. Fortunately, I wasn’t cut off.

Better speed and customer service with talktalk than BT.
