Sim Lock

Hi everyone.
I want to change my daughters O2 Pay as you Go to Tesco. Last time I tried to swap sim cards between an O2 phone and a Tesco one it worked fine. This time it says Sim Lock enter Password. Please help. What do we do?

I'm not so sure. Some phones allow you to make it so that it will only work with that SIM card. A code is required to allow another SIM to be used which means it's useless to a thief (assuming you have the current SIM cancelled).

What I'm describing isn't the same as being locked to a particular network/provider.

Has your daughter set up a SIM lock since you last swapped SIMs?

Don't try and guess the code or put in other codes like the one setup when the phone is powered up as it may not be the same!

Thanks for the reply. The phone was supposed to be unlocked when she got it, but perhaps only in a limited way?

A sim lock is something the user of the mobile sets, it will activate should a sim be removed etc.

What phone is it, as some just use the security code??

Tesco uses O2 as their service provider. O2 phone will accept Tesco sim, Tesco phone will Not accept O2 sim. They should be interchangeable but where as O2 will take Tesco sim, Tesco will not take O2 sim.

Its a Samsung P510. Where do I find the security code?

Righto...if the secuirity code hasn't been changed it'll be 0000000

Testing me know..it's been a while since I used a samsung, should be (something like) menu, settings, security settings, and something like security level....if it's not like that...let me know what the options are and I'll tell you which one

It was soooo much easier when I could walk into the stockroom and grab one lol

Thank you laurajayne. The options in security are Pin Check, Change Pin, Phone Lock, Change Password (but need old one which we don't know!) Privacy and Sim Lock (also asks for password).
