The HOMECARE 200 details should be available on their website.
I am with British Gas (probably the same deals) and pay an additional £3 on my Gas Bill for 'ENERGY EXTRA 50' (this is a new product not shown on their site), which is similar to HOMECARE 400, but with a £99 charge per callout/repair. If you pay a bit more you will get it without that charge. Mine covers the below:
What's included:- Repairs for whole central heating repairs - boiler, controls, radiators, pipework and hot water system
- Repairs to your internal hot and cold water supply pipes, internal waste pipes, non-shared external drains1
- Repairs to existing electrical wiring and fixtures
- Unlimited call outs
- Parts and labour included*
- Annual Service of your boiler
- Manned customer breakdown line 24/7
- Over 6,900 highly qualified, Gas Safe registered (formerly CORGI registered ) engineers
- Over 1,000 highly trained plumbing & drains engineers
- Over 500 highly skilled electrical engineers

so do you think the homeserve or homecare 200 offers better cover?0

Oh, sorry, I see now. It's a plan totally away from your supplier. If you look in the T&C's and Summary Of Cover it tells you all about it. Looks like you have to pay the first £50..."Whatever the cost of the repairs, you only pay the first £50 within the cover limits".
I'd prefer a contract that is with my supplier. Less paper work and less phone numbers to find.
Plus, do yourself a favour and Google/Research 'Homeserve'...typically...LIKE THIS ONE...

Thats cheaper than new customer prices which is now £17 (£19 Inside London).
Check homeserve but I am sure they limit your call outs (2 a year I think). His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
Do you currenlty have Homecare200 Flexi? If not, you may find it's cheaper, as it has the £50 callout fee, similar to the Homeservce cover you linked to. The main difference, apart from the level of service provided, is that the homeserve cover doesn't include servicing, if you look at the terms and conditions. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

But of course that puts up the price, £12.79 for the £50 excess one and £15.98 for full cover without excess. How does that compare to BG?
Incidentally the T&C's state no limit to callouts.0 -
just had my renewal for homecare 200,£21.65 per month.i queried this, and was told £17per month is for new customers, and for the first year only.british gas offered to reduce this by £2.20.eventually we settled for £12.50 per month but we have to pay the first £50 for parts.what i would like an answer on,is this agreement has now changed from a service base to what is now called an insurance!could it be that,by doing this they(british gas)avoid paying VAT of 17.50%.can someone advise what rate IPT is levied at.if it is less than vat,why are the premiums not reduced acccordingly?0

I have a boiler contract with Homeserve.
My Glow-worm Enerygysaver 60 boiler started playing up so I contacted Homeserve.
They sent a engineer to take a look (STORM HETATING, DUNSTABLE).
He found a leak and said he will order a part.
A week later I got a call from Homeserve saying that the parts will cost too much and they offered me £200 towards a new
boiler and they would cancel the contract.
The parts they said it needed were: Main heat exchanger 2000800525 £446 , sec heat exchanger 2000800472 £465 , burner
S203154P £165 , gas council number 4131994. My bioler only cost me £800 NEW.
Its seems that if the cost of repairs is above £200 then Homeserve will not attempt to fix it but just offer you £200 for a
new boiler and cancel the contract.
You are better off putting the money aside instead of paying Homeserve.
THEY WILL KEEP TAKING YOUR MONEY AND WHEN YOU MAKE A CLAIM THEY WILL SIMPLY SAY ITS BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR AND PAY YOU
£200 AND CANCEL THE POLICY.
SO, BEWARE IF YOU HAVE A CONTRACT WITH HOMESERVE. THE MOST THEY WILL COVER IS £200!!0 -

This is my approach. My new boiler was installed 14 years ago. Last month the fan packed up and it cost me £206 incl parts and labour to have it replaced. Boiler should have around another 6 years useful life left.
Annual service is £50.00
Perhaps I have just been lucky.0
