Looking for new insurance soon and dont want to just go with the cheapest because I've had bad experiences in the past (i.e. Swiftcover).
At the moment, the cheapest are Kwikfit, Aviva, and M&S.
Any opinions?

Aviva have a terrible reputation if you actually have to claim through them. (That said, my mother had a claim in 2004 with Norwich Union when her car was attempted stolen which went through smoothly - car was very nearly written off )
I've also heard rumblings about kwickfits customer service being absolute pants.
M&S - no idea.
Also, avoid Budget or Sabre..... dont even get me started on them......Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Co operative. Not the cheapest by a long chalk but good if you actually need to claim.0

I've just spent the last 48 hours looking for cover and been quoted from £318 down to £140, fully comp for myself and one other driver. I chose one of the two main breakdown companies at £185.05p which includes homestart. I went through a cashback site which gives a further £45 reduction.
Last year the above co was higher than the one I chose, I've learned the only way to get value (not cheapness) for money is to do a search every year...and read the motoring forum on here so I know which to avoid0 -
I second the Coop, have been with them for years.
Gent last week on here at my suggestion got a quote for £300 less than he was quoted elsewhere, he was well pleased.
Good customer service too.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Having a nightmare with Churchill as a third party claimant against one of their customers so I'll be avoiding them for any future quotes0

my son is with ecar insurance which is internet website if you need to talk to them via email it takes 4 days to reply and if you want to phone it is a £1.00 a min. i dont recommend this company. anybody else had dealings with them.0

I'm with Aviva at the moment - I had a claim with them under a parent's policy in 2008 and had no issues whatsoever although it was blatantly 100% my fault.
Their admin fees are pretty crap though - £18 to have an Indian call centre change a registration number for me when their online service (which is free) wouldn't work properly.
Was with Elephant last year and never had any issues apart from their renewal department debiting my card in full when I changed car twice in one day - although that's a pretty unusual circumstance. They sorted it extremely quickly.0 -
If you're over 50 I've always found Saga very good, though not necessarily the cheapest.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I have been with Tesco for 2 years now and very fair on price.
Never had to claim from them so touch wood. But worth a free quote as well0 -
My experience with MoreThan was so abysmal that I ended up cancelling my policy and returning to my previous insurers despite the penalty cost.0
