How to pay with PayPal instantly ?

Hello.

How to pay with PayPal instantly ? without waiting a long time for the payment to clear, I know it is possible.
I must say that I have a Barclay's Debit Card.
I've bought something from e-bay and the time the payment will be cleared is staggering.
Your eCheque payment will clear approximately between: (01/03/2010-03/03/2010).

Your payment for ... is being processed and is expected to clear by 23-Feb-10.
Remember, your item will be dispatched after the seller receives payment.
You will receive an email receipt shortly.

Thank you in advance.

  • In the short term, you could ask the seller to send you a manual payment request. This would be instant and the first payment could be cancelled.

In the long term, I would suspect the only way to avoid this, is to verify the account/card.

If you have a Paypal account with sufficient funds in it to cover the purchase then your payment goes through immediately. You top-up or withdraw to a linked bank account of your own so it's easy to keep sufficient credit in the paypal account..
  • For some reason you have paid by an echeque rather than through paypal. I'm not sure how this has happened, I have had people pay me that way and it does take an awfully long time to clear.

You don't need to have sufficient funds in your paypal account for it to clear immediately, my paypal is set up to my Natwest debit card and anything I am 'short' in my paypal account comes direct from there instead. In fact you don't need to have anything in your paypal account that way.

Have another look at your paypal account to see how it is set up regarding the debit card situation. (I think they only use the term credit card but its been a while since I did mine, its all the same to them anyway)

But if you don't have any money in your Paypal account you'll find there is a delay, you wont be able to pay immediately - and speaking as a purple star seller that's a pain from the seller's point of view as well!

is this the first time you have used paypal? If so then maybe its because its your first payment.

Ive used paypal for about 6 years now but last year I bought something that took a good few days to clear but it was because I had changed address and for some reason the first thing I bought since moving took a few days for the payment to clear

I cant say I've ever had this problem. I hardly ever have money in my account and buy a good few things. My payment is always instant, the only delay is when its shows paypal has taken the money out of my bank account, it shows on my statement about 2 days later but the seller I bought it from receives my money straight away
