Rolling Contracts - Can they be stopped / Or go forever??

I am coming up to upgrade time with Three however I have not been offered any great deal. (I am currently on £5 a month with a £5 internet add on for 300 mins & 1000 texts... so not exactly easy to beat!)

Thus, Three said they can no longer extend my contract as it is a very old offer i.e. I signed up to it about 4 years ago!! The nearest thing they can offer is a £15 a month sim-only contract offering me 300 mins, 700 texts and unlimited internet. So £5 more for less texts didn't make sense too me!

HOWEVER, they did say if I don't cancel my contract it will just keep rolling. Therefore if I don't do anything I will continue to get 300 mins & 1000 texts for £10!!

My question is: Do Three have the right to cancel this at anytime and if so, how likely are they too?

My plan is to just buy my own phone (i.e. iPhone) then use my very own £10 a month price plan!!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Hi Berrya1,

Because your in a rolling contract, 3 can terminate your contract at any time but they must give you 30 days notice and vice versa if you want to terminate you must also give 30 days.

It is extremely rare that a mobile company would terminate your contract simply because you've got a good deal. (Bad PR). They may however be a little bit more stringent with you if you miss any DD's for example...

    hope this helps!

Oh on the iphone front 3 are not planning roll out until later this year, so it means you would be paying high amounts for a vanilla handset from apple (i.e. not locked to a network but new) or going down the pre-owned route and unlocking a o2/orange version, which isnt always compatible with a 3 sim card.

    Thanks,

    Rob.

The plan is to go down the pre-owned route but obviously ensuring it is compatible with a 3 sim card.

    Thanks for your advise.
