can i ask a question about edigital surveys- the retail ones that are on there say only accept purchase if you would make one anyway but then they have a refund section. so am i correct in assuming i can do the survey, order an item (light thing such as top) and then return it for a refund and do all three sections? thanks :)

I can't wait for the answer to this one! I've got a similar one with a DIY store and I can't even see on e digitals website where the instructions are!!

Set off about ten this morning...3 egg jobs and 200 mile later back in the house and reports all done....just need to do a supermarket but a coffee first I think :D

I hope the pay was worth all the fuel you used! even at a conservative 30 miles to the gallon must have cost at least £30 in fuel, unless you we already going on that trip. You must be dedicated to MS'ing to want to do that kind of mileage ;)

lol i think the instructions are basically just do what the questions ask! i did the music one and there wasnt really any for thaT (although that was very straight forward) might just apply for one purchase and refund and see what happens! :o

have remembered the discussion from last time about ordering something light as its cheaper to return!

ahh think i have answered my own question. i have accepted a variety of invites and when i have checked pending some only have purchase and no refund section so that must be why

It has nothing to do with addiction and ALL to do with money! I actually used around £20 worth of fuel (my car is !!!! running around town but great on long journeys) and made a VERY handsome profit. I don't refer to the as 'golden egg' jobs for nothing ;)

An added benefit was when I got home my son had done all the house work :D

Depends on where you are and what the fees are. A 'local' one shop visit for me usually involves a round trip of about 20 miles. Big mileages are a way of life in my area. Quite happy to do 100/150 mile trips if the fees add up. I wouldnt get much work otherwise. A 200 mile trip would cost me less than £20 in diesel. That's not allowing for wear and tear, but my daily trip to work and back used to be 96 miles so my annual mileage is still much lower.

Just out of interest, what would the fees need to add up to in order for a 100 mile round trip to be worth it for you? (if you don't want to answer I understand) :)

I could have done 3 jobs with a 30mile round trip for just over £35 but I didn'as I wasn't sure it would be worth it.

I try and do jobs in a direction of where I have to go anyway or I try and get a 'loop' of 5 or six jobs (or more if the opportunity and the time permit!) Obviously the 3 jobs I did today were at an increased fee and I got that fee because they are out of the way but I had no other plans for today and no other work so it suited me to do them.

i generally work on the principle of 10p mile to make it easy to add up. i will work out the mileage and subtract it from the fees and see if it is worth my while. also take into account how long it will take to drive and if i cant be bothered i wont take it. i used to take one job 30 or so miles away and hope i got more but once or twice i ended up going all the way for one job so i only take them now if there a few. i also do burger jobs on the way sometimes to cover the petrol :)

did a 60 mile trip for 5 jobs and around £45 in fees last week but got most of my mileage paid by one company. tbh dont do that very often but there werent any local to me and i needed the money!

Usual mystery shopping answer of "it varies".

I have a target I've set myself of x pounds per hour. That includes travel time, visit time and questionnaire. I dont count travel time or travel costs for local towns I would be in anyway. So I will do lower paying jobs there.

Going further afield, I usually allow one fee to cover my travel costs and the rest of the jobs go towards my hourly rate. Long visits and long reports drag the rate down so I wouldnt include too many of them.

The nearest big towns and shopping centres are all about 50 miles away from me. Apart from the egg shops, I've never been able to do a decent circuit locally. If I'm going to the city then I would want combined fees of at least £60. I would do it for less if it included an increased fee that meant less shops and less time and kept my hourly rate at my target.

I think I've made that sound more complicated than it is. Cover my costs and give me a decent hourly rate for my time. The distance isnt a problem then.
