If stuff is rubbish, then COMPLAIN. Get your money back. Make their lives as difficult as possible.

Walking out the door is better than walking in again, that's true. But it's not getting recompense, it's letting them get away with it.

  • I must admit I used to work for Homebase when I was at Uni and I think they are a lot more expensive since they changed from being owned by Sainsbury's.

I also have to admit my lack of DIY knowledge when I was asked by a customer where the rawl plugs were and I advised him that all of the plugs were in the electrical aisle.

They are even more expensive than they used to be. The gardening department has changed completely. Most of the fencing & hard gardening products have vanished. It's now just plants, a few bags of peat etc & some garden ornaments.

Errrr, GUS stopped existing some years ago. It was split up. Home Retail Group is it's own PLC now.

Sorry, I presume you don`t have a bath ?otherwise why pay £40 for a week wait ? slightly inconvenient I know but a week ....

  • I used the uncurlable hose on the mixer taps where it promptly split.

So congratulations Homebase, you fleeced me again - I shall add this experience to the Own Brand staple gun that never worked, (then take it back) the Own Brand masking tape that doesn't stick, (then take it back) the Own Brand tools over the years that have been unfit for purrpose (then return them)and my favourite, the emergency Own Brand loo seat that sliced my finger open the first time I lifted the lid. then take it back and complain.

God Bless Homebase and all their shelves of tat that are unfit for purpose and which you end up buying the real thing afterwards anyway and swearing you will never, ever buy anything in there again.

bought a homebase toilet seat, wasnt even cheap but the fixings were rubbish and they broke within a week, i took it back and got my money back!! easy peasy. bought christmas tree lights and they broke within two weeks so took them back, they were at that time half the price i had bought them for so got new set and half my money back, no fuss

see how easy that is. rather than driving yourself crazy with duct tape just take the blimin thing back. all the time spent duct taping and showering under a limp dribble of water you probably could have found a decent shop by now
