  • I have same problem with TalkTalk.

Solution was to set up a google mail email account. Then in Outlook express or equivalent change outgoing SMTP mail server to googlemail and check box to authenticate. This then requires you to enter the googlemail password on tour email account set up.

From memory you need to change setup to port 25.

This gets your emails sent BUT it does 'stamp' your googlemail address onto outgoing mail - not a problem for me BUT it does mean that if anyone replies to an email it goes to my googlemail address rather than my primary address. I solved this by setting up a forward on my googlemail account to forward to primary address and then delete from googlemail to prevent googlemail getting filled up.

so they let email be sent from their email address through port 25 but block any other email address from sending ?

Its to stop spam and identity spoofing from their servers. doesn't your private mailbox provider supply a smtp server ?
