Hi there
i can not send emails from my own private email address over my isps ( the post office) smtp server (smtp.mypostoffice.co.uk)
i have got my post office email address setup correctly and i am able to send and receive fine
my domain name email address incoming working fine but obviously can not send any out. i use Thunderbird i also tried windows mail , same message on both as below
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Live Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

Server Error: 554
Server Response: 554 5.7.1 <host86-175-101-42.wlms-broadband.com[86.175.101.42]>: Client host rejected: Access denied
Server: 'smtp.mypostoffice.co.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC79
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
the PO does not require Outgoing server requires authentication.
it seems as though if its not a post of email address sending over their servers it rejects it?
i had no problems sending emails over my previous isp (plusnet) servers from my own email address
the only setting that have changed is the outing server is po and not plusnet and i have set up my po email address which works fine. please help

Its worth asking their customer support whether they allow this, otherwise you might need to use a 3rd party SMTP service as I doChris Elvin0

are there any good free or paid for 3rd party smtp0

It sounds like PlusNet are blocking SMTP port 25?
Some ISP's do this, check your PlusNet documentation.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
I use mailcore from verygoodemail.com and have done for years. I have my own mail servers for inbound mail, but relay all outgoing through their SMTP servers. This is solely because some mail servers do not like the fact that I have a dynamic IP address and won't accept mail from me directly
I have no affiliation with verygoodemail.com other than a satisfied customerChris Elvin0 -
how much do they charge per year , i guess you can send from any email address through their servers0
-
just spoken to the PO they only allow PO email address to send of the server
, are there anymore free/ good priced 3rd party SMTP providers, many thanks for everyone's help

Many hosts run mail on a second port to help circumvent isp's blocking port 25,
If you have your domain name hosed then try asking your host if they can help0 -
my domain name provider does not offer smtp, what are the other options , many thanks0

get yourself a cheap web hosting package and domain and use the email through that!0
