Defragging help please

Ok, now that we are all in agreement that the OP is using defraggler
, I suggest that the OP tries this:-
After analysing disk, select file list and tick the most fragmented file(s) and click on "Defrag Checked". This is one of the reasons to use defraggler. Selecting specific files should be faster than trying to defrag the whole disk at once.

Hi people, didnt know that you had all been replying - thanks very much.
Oh, I had done the check disk thingy before I started the defraggler.
Problem is, after going to bed and thinking it would be sorted this morning - its only on 31% This cant be right?0 -
Did you run it in Safe Mode?
If not, have you closed down any running aplications you don't need? You can see these in Task Manager.
Is there plenty of available space on the C: drive (15-20% plus free)?0 -
Hi, its not in safe mode, but Im wary of starting all over again now
Theres about 70% space on the drive. Its VISTA Home premium by the way 0 -

Don't be concerned about starting over. It'll be (relatively) quick in safe mode. The amount of free space means less defragging to do.
I'm not familier with Vista, but my original question still stands; why are you not using the onboard defrag??Marching On Together
I've upped my standards...so up yours!

This doesnt make sense at all, I just tried Smart Defrag and it says no files need defragmentation. Does that mean defraggler had done the job but the visuals didnt show that?
Brit, I tried the onboard, after 4 hours, someone suggested defraggler was erm, quicker

You could try a 2nd/3rd opinion by trying this prog.

TBH, I,don't think you will notice much if any difference on a more modern system.0 -
Hi spakker, thats the one I used - in the above post, says no defrag needed.0
