Woolacombe and Croyde bay are great places to go. Saunton Sands is also beautiful.

Clovelly is a nice walk down a quite steep cobbled traffic free street to the sea.

Lynton and Lynmouth is also a good place to call in and Exmoor is nice to drive through.

What things do you like to do?
Thanks, is Combe Martin an ok place to stay? I keep wondering whether I should have got a property in Barnstaple or Lynton or Braunton, etc.

I used to stay with my ex partners family at their home and always found it to be a nice village. It is 10 years since I have been there to stay. It depends on what you want... from memory it is a quiet village with enough pubs to keep you going. It is well situated to head into the other villages around it or Ilfracombe also was quite nice.

Loads of people seem to be recommending Saunton Sands. Is it a reasonable distance from Combe Martin.

Please someone tell me that Combe Martin is a good/decent place for touring North Devon. I can't cancel the apartment but just so I can be at peace with myself. lol

Also, is the beach in Combe Martin nice, clean and sandy?

Does this cost anything, also does Exmoor National Park cost money?

From memory the beach is quite small at combe martin. Combe Martin will be fine if you like fairly quiet villages, it is fine for visiting other parts of North Devon... It is hard to suggest other things as we do not know what you like doing, what you like doing etc.

    Well, no surfing or anything.

Just going to beaches, shops, nice scenic walks, visiting family-friendly attractions

The nicest beaches are Saunton sands, Woolacombe and Croyde.

Clovelly is great for a scenic walk.

I have just remembered the big sheep as well..a family attraction just outside Bideford.

Don't worry North Devon is fantastic and Combe Martin is a great base for it.

Thanks for the reassurance, really appreciate it!

I am slightly annoyed as after booking the apartment via Farm & Cottage, I found on ther 4th page of google, Cottageguide and I could have booked direct from the owner for £80 less.
Oh well, I will remember for next time if I end up re-visiting.
