Hey,
Just wondered if anyone had stayed at the combe martin beach holiday park and what they think of it.
Also I need a few ideas of what to do in and around combe martin as we have never been before as we normally go to south devon torquay.
Thanks,
Emma

Can't say on that particular park, we went to another John Fowler park at Perrin View in Newquay and it was AWFUL. I'd recommend having a look on trip advisor and see what other people thought of it... Click here0

Thanks have just read some reviews not too good by the looks of it..at least it wasnt that expensive as its a sun holiday and were not having the passes etc. We will probably just be spending our time out a lot by the sounds of it.
Thanks again,

Yeah that's what we did. At the end of the day a holiday is what you make it.0

Hi, hope that you read this before you go, just to put your mind at rest...
We've just got back from a few days at the John Fowler site in Combe Martin (the quieter site, not ?Sandaway Beach) & it was LOVELY! I'm annoyingly over-fussy with holiday accomodation & this more than exceeded my hopes, particularly after the awful reviews on Trip Advisor.
We stayed in a Gold caravan & it was fresh, clean & modern with a good standard of equipment etc.
Combe Martin is a cute little village with a really good bakery - the white bloomer mmmm...& chippy (the black & white one). Woolacombe is a good place to go for the wonderful beach (& the pasties) & I would recommend the Red Barn Cafe there for its food & service.
Barnstable's worth a visit on a dull day (hopefully you won't have many) with good shops & a friendly atmosphere.
Lynton & Lynmouth are attractive little villages & the cable car thingy is fun.
I've never been to North Devon before & was really impressed & would definately go back (& even stay at John Fowler again!)
Have fun!:rolleyes:0 -
Thanks we have upgraded our accomodation so should be good hopefully the weather stays nice!
We were thinking of going to lynton and lynmouth aswell, but we may also now pop into woolacombe never really thought of it till now.
Thanks

I spent 2 weeks at the John Fower in Coombe Martin about 8 years ago. It should have been 1 week, but the car broke down. On the upside I got engaged there, I reckoned after having to suffer the boyfriend for an extra week and surviving, getting married was no big deal
Still happily married.
I second Lynton & Lynmouth. Nice chips in the village at the bottom, eaten sat on the beach. (trying to avoid the seagulls who are waiting for the scaps.
Walk down the hill and get the tram back up! A nice windy path going down.
http://www.dinosaur-park.com/ The dinosaur park is worth a visit. Kids will like this.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
I am going to be staying in Combe Martin for one week at an apartment (http://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/devon/north-devon/rone-apartments), I am not too sure what to expect. Are there good, cheap restaurants with simple food. I am not wanting fancy food, just fish & chips, pizza, etc.
Anyone got a list of good things to do?
I have taken into account the above.
Also, is it worth spending a day in Barnstaple, do they have a modern shopping centre.
Also, are there any nice, sandy beaches in Combe Martin?0 -
I would also suggest Lynton and Lynmouth, there is also the gorge there, well worth a visit, best to use the vennicular railway to go up, and take a steady walk back down, some wonderful views, there is also a kiddies play park at the bottom on the green, lovely spot for a picnic.
Coombe Martin Wildlife Park is a good day out, they also have the bird of prey displays, subject to the weather, where they have this you get wonderful views over the bay.
Watermouth Castle is a great day out, you will be able to spend all day here, so well worth the money, the dancing water display is awesome. Watermouth is NOT open on Saturdays.

Is Lundy Island supposed to be good?0 -
Woolacombe and Croyde bay are great places to go. Saunton Sands is also beautiful.
Clovelly is a nice walk down a quite steep cobbled traffic free street to the sea.
Lynton and Lynmouth is also a good place to call in and Exmoor is nice to drive through.
What things do you like to do?0
