  • We used that company for our recent replacement Franke tap. Delivered fine and they were the cheapest for us too. If you are buying both ring them up and see if you can get a discount

£250 is far more like it!

I've got a stainless steel franke sink and the quality seems good.

The one you are looking at is synthetic so I couldn't say. The only thing I would say is don't get black if you are in a hardwater area.

Can I ask why not? I am looking at one of the black sinks and live in a hard water area.

I've got a white Franke synthetic sink (I think its the same or similar material) - I got it because I've had cheaper sinks in the past and they have shown signs of wear after a few years. This one has been excellent - doesn't scratch easily and resists stains. Barkeepers Friend cleans it of most marks, the occaisonal stain (curry, beetroot) comes out with a very dilute bleach solution.

I would certainly go for a Franke again. I have very soft water but I guess hard water might leave limescale stains on a black sink.

I would think it may be because of the lime or whateven in the water and the white marks it leaves

Has anyone got one of these sinks in a hard water area? Would it be a nightmare to keep clean? Do you think I should stick to stainless steel?
  • Why don't you phone them and ask them what they would advise you to do, I am sure they will know about problems in hard water areas -

I have the exact same sink in our IKEA kitchen! We have it in black and we live in an extremely hard water area! See pic below for how you think it looks? It's been in 2 years now and looks exactly like this! No scratches and no white marks. Having had cheaper sinks at old house this has been worth every singke penny! It is a completely practical sink being able to get full size grill pans in etc but is an absolute dream to keep looking good. Can't recommend it highly enough. We also bought ours from sinks-taps online and they were really good.

Cooker hood is a Baumatic one that we bought from Boots. (We bought all our appliances from there as they had a triple points promotion on so it saved us a fair bit!)
