Could you not ring Franke yourself. Or search on the Net yourself?

I've got a stainless steel franke sink and the quality seems good.

The one you are looking at is synthetic so I couldn't say. The only thing I would say is don't get black if you are in a hardwater area.

Thank you for that the water is soft (NO white bits in the kettle etc)

Apparently the sink is 80% granite and 20% resin according to franke but will it stand the hard work?

Don't think I would have said it quite like that as it just makes you soound a bit of a tool, but I kind of agree with the sentiment.
Not all Ikea kitchens are crap but that is a serious sink cost wise!?

The fact that it is mainly granite I would worry about chips and maybe scratches when you drop a stainless steel pan in it for instance

We have a S/S Franke sink that is about 8/9 years old I believe and is of pretty good quality (ie not really thin and cheap sounding when you put something in it)
  • I see the sense in spending money on specifications like the Franke sink, it's all about how it looks, I like it :)

Putting it in an Ikea kitchen will make the kitchen look designer- we are currently doing the same in our house - going for a cheaper kitchen but spending more on the extras!!!

My only concern would be about scratches - will it scratch easily?
I found the comparison chart which might help?

  • Google "franke black kitchen sinks" - plenty of choice way below that price inc many on ebay sellers inc many if the granite based ones

I appreciate certain things finish off kitchens but £630 on a sink that looks nice???!

I have found the sink £250 and tap for £180ish the tap is the one with granite from http://www.sinks-taps.com/default.aspx?view=item&itemid=3846&added=1 http://www.sinks-taps.com/item-3849-MYTHOS_Dual_Lever_Granite_Shoulder_Tap.aspx
    or i could have a B & Q sink for £50 less
Plus the OH likes it and that is all that matters
