We only had 35 and no evening reception as such so great for us- fab piccies (my avatar!)
  • I got mine from Francesca's, reduced from £700 to £500. It was at their Tamworth warehouse but they have shops in Walsall and Birmingham. The lady that dressed me was fantastic! We also got an extra £50 off the boys suits that I had ordered from them at the NEC wedding fayre last year! My friend also got her dress from there which was £325.

To be honest I tried to look at dresses at the NEC but there were so many people pushing and the whole experience was so overwhelming that I gave up and we went to the pub! :D
    Getting hitched! 23/10/10!! :T
Wedding weight loss so far: 7lb!
  • Haha thanks, I will deffo pop to Tamworth then for a browse, bit scared about wedding show now, been told to take a backpack and sarnies!
  • Theres also a shop in Wolverhampton near Beatties called Vanessas Clarkes. they have an upstairs section that sell prom dresses and bride maids dresses. My b2b brought her wedding dress from there for a really good price (under 400) as there clearing out their stock to concentrate on prom dresses.

I obviousley havent seen the dress but my b2b did goto to Berxley around the corner from their and the same style dress were priced at > £800 +

I guess you havent been to the NEC before then Kats? You will need comfortable flat shoes (there's a lot of walking) and it is best to take your own food and drink because NEC prices are bad, I made the mistake last week of not taking anything to eat or drink and ended up paying £2.75 for a cup of rancid coffee, the food was extortionate. Backpack is needed to carry your lunch and any bumpf that you are given as carrier bags can be flimsy and end up cutting your fingers.

Its an experience going to the Wedding Fair at the NEC.
  • Have been NEC for concerts but not to the wedding show, had tickets for the one last year but ended up in hospital so couldn't go!
£2.75 for coffee, ouch! Thanks for the heads up. Do you get many free samples?

Unfortunately not many free samples given out when I was there - I have been twice on fact finding exercises. Gadds of Dudley hand out miniscule bits of cake, Swizzles Matlow have tubs of lovehearts and other sweeties such as lollies etc and they don't mind if you grab a handful, Slaters usually allow one chocolate (usually Roses) - their men usually wear kilts:cool:. You get tons of leaflets and not much else - if Birmingham City Council are there promoting their venues then they will give you a memory stick but that has their brochure on it. I was expecting more freebies to be honest - as you can see I live for freebies and if I don't get many then I am disappointed.:(
  • My sisters are going to be disappointed then! I hope we can at least find something useful, we got VIP tickets so it better be worth the mone!

Francescas have a shop in the town centre too. If you are local and know the town centre then it is known as Goostrys by the town hall. Please be warned the shop assistant in there is down right rude and at times extremely brash. I were told by here i would be lucky to find anything anywhere in my size:eek:. I am 16/18 and found a dress same day but in Erdington at Beautiful Dreamer whom i would highly recommend as they are the most sincerest of people i have ever met.
:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

  • There's a sale on at Francescas warehouse next weekend, Tamworth - you might see a bargain (it gets mega busy though)! Check out the details on the website - think the sale is the Friday and Saturday 10am - 4pm.
