Id recommend you dont install a full av program until you know the computers clean
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds:idea:0 -
I've already done the malware scan but can only do quick one as full scan turns the computer off. I downloaded the microsoft one earlier but when it tried to do a quick scan the computer turned off.
Is this one any good pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
If a quick scan does complete it always says nothing found.0 -
registry mechanic is just a registry cleaning tool which is of no use here
id guess the computer turns off as its set to shut down after a period of time when its not actually being used?:idea:0 -
No its not set to turn off.
Just tried full malware scan but computer turned off after 4 minutes. Do you think it could just be that its overheating when doing the scan? It wouldnt switch back on straight away I had to leave it for a bit.
Internet connection still very slow.0 -
Id expect a quick scan to last at least 10 mins ~ or does that sometimes stop too?
If you culdnt switch back on then yes, looks like a heat problem
Tried a simple hoovering of the insides? (Without electrocuting yourself of course):idea:0 -
Hi rome
Is this a laptop or desktop that turns it self off?
As RIK says it sounds like a overheating problem, if its a desktop are both fans working on it, the PSU fan and the CPU fan?0
