How much did you have in the account? If it was less than £100 you wouldn't have got any free shares anyway.
  • Not a huge amount - yes under £100 so no shares, but think I would have been time barred anyway.
  • Hi,

any joy with the 'dormant' account?

Bad luck. It wouldn't have been time-barred.

They would have sold your shares before the banking stocks crashed & held your windfall in a cash account, so it would have been worth a significant sum :(.
  • Just a word to the wise about dormant accounts with A&L/Santander.

I recently asked them to close a dormant account and credit any closing balance to a current account I have with them. They sent ID forms which require signature by a professional (rather like passport applications). Unless you know a friendly professional (teacher, doctor, lawyer, . . .) then it's likely to cost you to get that signature they need. :(
