Anyway, the bad news is Satan blew a gasket! (So the consensus of opinion is having looked at Satan's engine). I didn't feel anything. I suppose there is a bit of good news in that the engine hasn't siezed. The temperature gauge was off the scale - I only noticed this travelling 80 pmh along the M6 in the outside lane.

So, I decided to top up the water in the radiator. He was very thirsty. Drank 8 pints of water. I'm guessing the radiator didn'thave much water in it then! lol It's been a while since I took Satan anywhere near a mechanic. Last time I was at my mechanics someone advised him (having worked on Satan for 4 days already) to give me £200 and tell me to F.O. Bless him - he only charged me £120 for his labour!

Anyway, so Satan had a drink of water, so I thought he might be hungry as well so I checked the oil. There was some black stuff in it - never think to check this one as it doesn't have an oil leak. My last car I just used to put a litre in every month or so. Anyway, I put some of the golden stuff in and he seems to be running ok now.

I may need to get a new car before I come down to Littlehampton. But I kind of think, "Better the devil you know" kind of thing.

Oh well, I'll see tomorrow on the way into work if the water and oil has cured him.

P.S. I daren't get an oil change because I'm afraid the wheel will fall off - I slid into the kerb in the icey weather! EEK! - the steering wheel wobbles a bit but only up to 60 mph, smoothes out after that.

Will Satan make it the almost 400 mile round trip? Who know's but we'll have fun trying!

Sounds like head gasket failure to me..... As long as you keep topping the water up and regularly check the oil (which does go dark with use) you MIGHT make it down, back up is a different question though.

On the wheel thing, sounds like you might have knocked a balance weight off so the wheel is vibrating slightly - its not terminal but definatly advised to get it sorted, that vibration adds all sorts of stresses into the suspension

Welcome d3mon4ngel - whew that's a mouthful.

Thanks for your best wishes but the show has yet to be made and filming of DIY SOS - The Big Build - starts on June 9th. There was another show, The One Show and you can find that on You Tube. There is a link somewhere in the thread. I will look it up.

Actually the programme hasn't been made yet! Filming over the next couple of months possibly. No screening date known yet.

I went to the house today and there was a hole in the floor with a man barely visible above the ground level.

So yes, unless it's a sunken shower cubicle, I am way past knowing what's going on.
