Hey, well done to you and your family! It's all so familiar, but the programme makers did a good job on the story, and Larkin came out looking like a total idiot. It will stop a few people using him anyway. If he stopped 'working' there's always someone waiting to replace him, so we need to think about this stuff when we deal with anyone on these big ticket jobs. I pity the next person who tries to get any payment in advance from you!

Your family all deserved a happy outcome and the bits of your finished house they showed looked really nice and well finished.

thanks to all of you for your comments and messages of support. Yes its repeated - tommorrow at 9 on fiver and then again on sunday early afternoon on 5 and later on fiver I think. And it will be on the internet at demand 5.

The house it mostly done now- just 2 more big jobs to do but we've been living like a normal family since about November so are well practice now at putting it behind us. Sticking together has been our secret I think. Oh, and for the record....I paid him £70k and DO NOT OWE HIM ANY MONEY! (sorry for shouting!)
