I have sent off my email. My initials are FF, for when you get your copy, Mike.

I will keep everything crossed that this campaign of ours shows results.

Good luck, as always Mike. I still lurk and read, although don't post much. But I'm cheerleading from the sidelines.

Thanks for that, and for adding to our friend's postbox! We need cheerleaders on the sidelines you know!

SouthernBellE* has been working her magic again... here's the text of my email which has just gone off - (vive les insomniacs!)

I am writing to express my support for an application which I understand has been submitted to you recently: that is, that you feature Mike and his beautiful cottage, 'The Dolls' House' on your programme.

As you will have heard, this is at heart a human interest story, as Mike has had to live in the shell of the house even through the harsh depths of last winter, blocking huge holes in the wall to keep out the weather and selling his car in order to install a bathroom. All this because a rogue builder took his money and left him in the lurch.

Health problems have limited what he has been able to to do to improve his situation but he has done what he could - on the outside this is an eye-catchingly lovely property and local legend says it has a colourful history.

Please look favourably on this application: not only would it make a huge difference to Mike's health and welfare to have his cottage made into a safe and comfortable home, but it could prevent others from employing this dishonest but very credible builder.

I don't see this as defeat...!

I have had a long-running correspondence with Cowboy Builders, another good programme (with our friend Dom Littlewood presenting). When we last spoke they were finalising the projects for the next series. They weren't able to find any other victims of Paul Bridle at that point, so I wrote recently to say at least one had now shown up. I received the following reply last week, which isn't a closed door, but is actually a really positive and supportive response...

    Hi Mike,

Thanks very much for your email. I did in fact see the report on The One Show, and recognised the details of your story. It is very helpful that the report brought more possible people who've been ripped off by Paul Bridle out of the woodwork. However, as I mentioned in my last email, we have now finished making the current series of the programme, which is due to start going out next week. We are waiting to see from there if Channel 5 recommission the programme. If that happens, we will of course look at your case again for the next series and see if there is something we can do to help. Unfortunately I can't give you any timescale on this or any definite idea of if there will be another series, although we very much hope there will be. But many thanks for getting in touch with these updated details, which is very helpful, and hopefully we will be in touch again in due course.

    Many thanks

    They're our friend...
