I just wanted to say that your speech was brilliant....i admit i bubbled

This part is particulary significant for me today

"I have learnt that accepting help is sometimes what other people need you to do to make them happy. I never realised this."

My manager pulled me to one side today to inform me that a client i was working with had comitted suicide on Monday evening, he was 19 years old!!

I was working with him on a different matter entirely ( i can't say too much) however feel it important to say that if he had just told me, i could have helped him in many many ways...and i would have been very happy to do this. We have councellors on site and Mentors and a dedicated Mental Health team.

I knows it's easy for me to say, but i found myself looking back wondering if there were any signs or if i could have done more. The answer is i couldn't, he didn't want anyone to know how he felt, and he hid it very very well.

So i thank you for including that, i think it's important to know that, if ever anyone is feeling low, or depressed. Ask for help and accept it for what it is...help and support when you need it most and people do care.

You're an inspiration to many mike....you truely are a wonderful guy.

Your sons must be so so proud of your strengh of character.

I'm glad you've found something that resonates with you. I think that's what the forum is really for. If someone's serious about killing themselves they will arrange not to be 'found in time' and stopped. That's brave. So sad for you even though it must be a hazard of your job. Doesn't make it easier. It wasn't your fault. He will have been unhappy for a long time. Maybe he'd have wanted to say that you had made a difference, but he couldn't let you know and risk further unhappiness. You did your best but he wanted to do that.

You guys are so lovely do you know that???

I'vebeen around, reading this thread slowly but surely, a little bit every night - but this morning at about half nine, I got to the tense outcome of the benefits appeal - I then sat there for about 4 hours, reading non-stop, ignoring my kids; till I got to the end and realised it all happened YESTERDAY!!!!!

Lol, I know it's all been said before but it's amazing and truly inspirational how all of you guys have opened up your hearts to Mike and offered him completely unconditional support - you should all be giving yourseves a well earned pat on the back. You especcially Mike, becase what you did on that TV show took some real balls, even more so with your depression; and there are many times along the way when you could have given up but didn't. WELL DONE!!!

I wish I had a group of friends like you guys.

    Cuckoo. xxx

    You have now.

    And thank you.

Well you have Cuckoo cos you are one of us now.

Well Mike what can I say what a long way you/we have come - The One Show really put your plight across so very well and everyone else has said all the things I wanted to. Sorry not been on too much but things not good with me and I really didn't want to bring you down. You are flying now and need to keep the momentum going - has anything happened today. Will keep logging on to see how things are and what pictures of The Dolls House when the work starts.

Through your thread I want to say thank you for support at bad times and also thank you for giving others hope and the inspiration you have shown others - go mike go:T:T:T:T

And Go Billie... you're doing so much to get through your difficult time I feel very lazy. And I like knowing you and reading your thoughts, as we all do.

Has Bodgit Bridle been in touch yet? Have you been in touch with the papers? Have Angells and Yorkygirl(?) been in touch or you with them?

No contact from Bridle, but have caught up with most PMs and it's great to know others don't feel I did anything too stupid because they know what he's like....

A lurker just peaking out the cupboard briefly, its been like reading an epic novel this thread in the past couple of weeks. I have finally made it this far, can't wait for the ending to be written (it will be a good ending in favour of Mike Im sure of it) but just downloaded the BBC Iplayer and watched your entrance into the world of TV Mike...thought it was great and all you guys are great to for your support.
I wait for the next chapter in excitement, hopefully the downfall of the baddy like all good books!!

Good luck Mike, I will keep having a peak. Fingers crossed you get what is rightfully yours from Mr theiving Bridle.

    Sue

I'm beginning to think that the ending might be a happy one too.
