MW is right Mike. A similar story was told about my next door neighbours daughter who had been flooded in 2007, and was still not back in her house over a year later, one of her dogs had to be kept in kennels and rented only allowed one dog, and the cowboy contractors employed by the insurance didn't know how to overcome the problems, so in the end the insurance paid her out after the program. A builder had built a house about 6 away and was unaware of her plight, came to see her after the program, and she was back in within weeks. Just watch out if anyone comes and wants paying up front:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hey Mike, I'd just like to add that you had legitimate and mitigating circumstances for paying your builder upfront, I mean, it's not like he was Don Destroyer of Bodge It N Scarper from the Dodgy Pages. He was recommended to you by 3 of your friends (who I hope are ex friends now by the way).
You have nothing to feel silly or foolish about, I'm sure many of us would have done the same under those circumstances.

Thanks! What Poo says ^
I'm not planning to leave my house, move, stay with friends or whatever. At least not while the dogs are here!
Might reconsider later!
I think I may feel violated... which is more of a concern.
(Just have to tell you, the dogs are behind me asleep and one's having a bad dream and making the quietest little barks! It's hilarious!)0 -
I think the biggest issue, which I realise I've been avoiding, is if I'm not watching it alone, who will it be with. I can't think of anyone who is around to come here for the evening. A friend invited me to her place but she's got a tiny crap television and I want the full 42" experience. Not fishing for invites, but it would feel awful not having someone to watch it with! Advice please?
And I can offer the full 42" experience...:cool:0 -
If I wasn't working and didn't live miles away, I'd bring the bubbly and the snacks!!
I'm slowly working my way through the thread, am just reading about you winning your incap benefits fights. I have to say, it's emotional reading.... you have a great way of communicating whats going on, I'm feeling every up and down in each post you make!!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

You have two choices. Either take your big 42" tv to your friend's house or go to the pub and beg the landlord to put it on the big screen like they do with the footy.
I'm not being much help, am I?August £10 a day challenge- £27/£3100 -
Why can't your friend just come to your place and enjoy your 42 inches?
Failing that just remember that WE are all out there glued to and screaming at, the screen. I would imagine, counting the lurkers, there are hundreds out there. How could you be alone with us lot out there.
You could always go to the Pub tomorrow just to check for Monday. think of all the pints you will get because they are with you. Think Positive. Don't forget to put your clocks forward in the morning. Janetmember # 12 of Skaters Club

Yes, that's a really good bit. I enjoyed that very much.
I realised from writing what is a bit of a blog how much my mood varies from hour to hour as much as day to day. What starts off as an average day can go either way. If I put myself out there and do something difficult, I often 'pay for it' a day or two later. I don't think that's in my personality, I'm pretty sure that's depression. A friendly smile or a brief word is enough to change my whole mood for the better, or amother experience can put me in the slough of.
I seem to be able to stand intense difficulties for a long time without being conscious of a comedown from them. You can't comedown while it's still happening.
The benefits thing was a discrete problem, it had a beginning and a middle and an end. Most of the other things I've talked about on here don't have an end, and I'm worried that they won't. I will be perpetually somewhere in the 'middle of the story' and won't even know how far in the future the end is.
!!!! me, that was a bit deep.
The more people I meet going through life, the more I wonder who's 'normal'. Everyone's normal until you get to know them. Then you realise the terrible things people you know have been through. Things I couldn't imagine tolerating, but they do. They manage, or they've put it behind them or found a coping strategy... but it's impossible not to admire them and be grateful it never happened to you...
We will now sing Psalm 22...

Yes, I always say you just deal with what you have as you know no different. It's only when other people start to know what's been going on, that you realise maybe it's not normal and actually it's an incredibly tough thing (or things) you have been dealing with. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, we just have to share them and support each other wherever possible. We are lucky to have so many good'uns on the DFW thread who will always give support, and advice if requested, even to first time posters.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16
