Mike remember you are tackling all these areas of your life one by one - okay they all weighed you down before and you buckled, but you have come back fighting and slowly you are winning. Week before last was euphoric and now with some of that fight and determination you can over come the blank screen because this is actually the area you know something about and the two people who have "employed" you must know that or else they wouldn't have asked. Now listen, count to 10, breath release and again... you will be fine this is easy peasy for you and you will suceed. Come on fight !!!!!!!!! xxx

    Wise, kind words.

It's just so easy to become overwhelmed by stuff. Nothing big has gone away but I'm into stuff now that I didn't think I'd be doing for a while yet - such as work!

I pinged the first bit of the new job back to my man and he seemed happy with it. I don't know how committed I am to the details of the work. That's the hard bit for me right now. Still if I wanted a gentle reintroduction to the world of work (and I did) I got it, didn't I?

Typically, the job which had 'a few days to do it in' is suddenly needed by 3pm this afternoon! Why are Marketing people all like that!!! Mustn't let that stress me out, must I? !

I'd hack into next door's wifi personally...

Did the depression open group this afternoon. More fun than it sounds. I was able to tell them of a few good things that have happened, really only to say - hey - life does get better sometimes. But I felt really bad admitting good stuff had happened. Sort of showing off, or being smug or something. That'll be my wonderful upbringing then... seen but not heard.

Fate settled the score though - I'm feeling really gloomy now. Just a blip I expect, but there's so much that I am not able to come to terms with or put right or deal with. It's always going to be there in the background, ready to pounce and remind me 'life's not meant to be enjoyable... don't get the idea that just because you've achieved something it's all going to be all right now...'

    Hey... it's just depression.

    Oh my goodness...

Thanks to some great people for the PMs yesterday and today.

I got feedback on the first job, the logo design. He'd sifted it down to 8 options yesterday and I sent him some mods. Says he'll choose one tomorrow. That's all good. I love the idea that my comeback design will be on council posters for a couple of years. I also never have got over the excitement of seeing my name in print (but that's just sad!)

And the second one, the training material, I forced myself to sit down while the brief was still in my memory, and knocked it all out within about three hours! Client was pleased with them and gave me another little project to do tomorrow. He mentioned that he had a lot of other bits and pieces if I wanted them. So, not quite as bad as had been forecast!

    Slowly, the ice melts...

You're an amazing group of people.

Lol Billie I can see you are struggling with that saying, I must admit, I read it and thought, "that's not right" but couldn't think why initially.

    I think you'll find it's a mix of 2 sayings:

The early bird catches the worm

    and

    Slowly, slowly catchy monkey

No idea what the second one means!

Hey Mike, I see you were a little down this afternoon, I think I mentioned a few pages ago "Something's Got To Go Wrong" syndrome and I believe most of us have probably suffered this at some point in our recoveries.

I guess we just get used to being down and despondent and when things start to pick up we kind of get startled because it's not the norm.

I'm glad to see you're bouncing back though. Congratulations on your works. Keep it up but don't overdo it. I don't know how the Graphics industry works so not sure if you feel able to start turning down work if you don't feel up to it, you don't want to turn people away and end up not having them come to you again but then you don't need to be running flat out from the getgo. It's a tough call, but hey, you've been out of the market for a while and you are bouncing back into it so maybe you can pick and choose at the moment the projects you feel you can handle.

Whatever you do, you know we are all here right behind you!

    Best wishes
