Demon net

Was in the process of changing my supplier to demon net, thought i would read through their 'fair use policy' as i'm a heavy Internet user. Was appalled to find out that they consider 'peak' hours to be 9am - 11pm. How can you have a 'peak' time that is longer than 'normal' time?
Fair to say i canceled what i was doing!

Who has the best FUP?

Be Broadband (Unlimited or Pro packages only)
O2 Broadband (Standard, Premium or Pro packages only)

Sky Unlimited - No FUP at all (but you need Sky TV)
Virgin 50Mb XXL - No FUP at all (but you need to be in a cabled area)
  • Demon are also really bad at their customer service. I was spoken to rudely many times by their support staff when my line kept dropping and after a complaint to head office (Thus) I was released from contract. I then went to Tiscali who respected my knowledge and experience and we got the faults solved. However if you look at my Talk Talk thread you'll see I'm also interested in who has a good policy now because I need to move ISP!!

Thats partly my issue now also, having been a tiscali customer and found them ok (few speed issues). I have found talktalk annoying to say the least. Noticeable speed decrease since the change, customer services is rubbish.

Thanks for the info guys - i knew that sky didnt have a FUP but i'm not going with them just because of that lol

Agree with this Dylan. I've been a very happy Be* subscriber for three years. They have zero contention (doesn't slow down at peak times) and have never enacted their FUP against a single user for excessive downloading. Incidentally, I switched because I hit the unstated monthly bandwidth limit on Demon's unlimited (8Mb) package, which turned out to be 50Gb. I believe it's still that now. They reduced my connection to ISDN speeds for a month with no way to even buy myself out of it.

The 50Gb was a blip too, due to family use via multiple computers + a bandwidth intensive MMOG I was personally using at that time. I went over the limit on the last day of the month, but Demon weren't prepared to show any flexibility so I left.
