I have a Humax - can record 2 progs at once and you can view a third. About £129 I think? Its on amazon. If you get the bigger one its £159. Both are twin tuners, which is what you want.

I'm amazed that you can find 3 decent programs on at the same time ..

I am not aware of any TV that is able to output a Freeview signal that you can record, so you will need a DVD recorder with a tuner built in. I have a Sony HDD/DVD recorder and would recommend one of those. It is so much more convenient to watch programmes off a hard disk, rather than a series of DVDs, and more versatile too.

My Panasonic TV and Panasonic DVD/HDD recorder have a "Viera" link which means amongst other things, I can record from the telly whatever is on screen at the time. I can "directTV" record with one button press or even schedule the TV to come on in the background ie no picture on screen, for the HDD to record if I'm out.

If your TV is Sony like your DVD/HDD, I bet there is something similar. Not called Viera link but something like Smart Link.
