Uhm....In the OP, the poster is moaning about getting ID's for trying to buy food with alochol in. How is it not about ID for alcohol? The reason they couldn't buy it was because it had alcohol in which they needed id to buy.
Would you seriously take ID out if you were only going to purchase a Tomato Based Cooking Sauce?0 -

What ID do you suggest for a tomato based cooking sauce? I have a GCSE in Food Technology certificate somewhere maybe that will be acceptable to show that I am safe to own and operate the aforementioned tomato based cooking sauce.
The reason I couldn't buy it was because the shop worker was a moron and the manger was a coward who legged it at the first sign of any confrontation.
I have even spoken to the local licensing officer and when he had finished laughing said "that's idiotic".It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

What's most surprising about this post is not its breathtaking stupidity, or the mind-shattering way in which the point has been missed - rather, it's that "gaz_jones" is actually able to turn on and operate a PC.
I'm too numbed by it, mentally, to be able to respond to the post itself, I'm afraid....0 -

Apologies if I missed you say that. I haven't read all 15 pages. What ID do you suggest for a tomato based cooking sauce? I have a GCSE in Food Technology certificate somewhere maybe that will be acceptable to show that I am safe to own and operate the aforementioned tomato based cooking sauce.

But it wasn't like the till operator was going out their way to make your life harder. It will have flagged up on their screen saying 'Ask for ID' or something similar. Yes they should have used common sense, but, if that can potentially cost them their job for not ID'ing you, then fair enough.
If I was the till operator, and I knew I could loose my job for not ID'ing you, no matter how trivial the item may be, I wouldn't serve you it without you presenting ID. Why should I risk loosing my job because someone in HQ things you should present ID to buy a meal with wine sauce in?This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
:rotfl:Ha! I used to play football with the cashier in question. Took a good while till we stopped ribbing her about it.:D0 -
Either that, or they'll just stop stocking the alcohol.
If you are buying alcohol, take ID. Not difficult to remember.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
