What ID do you suggest for a tomato based cooking sauce? I have a GCSE in Food Technology certificate somewhere maybe that will be acceptable to show that I am safe to own and operate the aforementioned tomato based cooking sauce.

The reason I couldn't buy it was because the shop worker was a moron and the manger was a coward who legged it at the first sign of any confrontation.

I have even spoken to the local licensing officer and when he had finished laughing said "that's idiotic".

What's most surprising about this post is not its breathtaking stupidity, or the mind-shattering way in which the point has been missed - rather, it's that "gaz_jones" is actually able to turn on and operate a PC.

I'm too numbed by it, mentally, to be able to respond to the post itself, I'm afraid....

But it wasn't like the till operator was going out their way to make your life harder. It will have flagged up on their screen saying 'Ask for ID' or something similar. Yes they should have used common sense, but, if that can potentially cost them their job for not ID'ing you, then fair enough.

If I was the till operator, and I knew I could loose my job for not ID'ing you, no matter how trivial the item may be, I wouldn't serve you it without you presenting ID. Why should I risk loosing my job because someone in HQ things you should present ID to buy a meal with wine sauce in?

Erm, unless of course your buying a pack of Wine Gums or as in this case a Chicken in White Wine Sauce, its quite possible you would not even consider taking ID

Please DO try to read the thread, as has been mentioned COUNTLESS times, there is NO ALCOHOL in a Chicken in White Wine Sauce. Unless we are going to go full circle again to dispute this method I suggest you PROVE the alcohol content in such a product. I.E. NONE.
