Best way to switch broadband from talktalk line rental?

Hi all :j,
I've been thinking about switcing from talk talk for sometime now, basically because I'm now out of contract have incentive to stay with talktalk (lucky I haven't had to call their customer service yet:eek:)

Though how do I switch given I don't have a BT line now as I pay talktalk for the line rental? I've had a look all over the internet and can't find any info on this, I'm sure others are in the same position.

For example, Say I get a O2 payg sim, to get a lower tariff and switch via topcashback. The only way I can see how to do it is to:
  1. Cancel my TalkTalk broadband package,
  2. Apply to BT for a free reconnection,
  3. Then go online and apply for a new broadband supplier via topcashback.
This will leave me with no broadband for a period as well as being a major hassle. There must be a easier way! Or other broadband suppliers must have arranged something in order to easily poach customers from TalkTalk.

Cheers for any advice.

You could ring BT to ask for your line to be returned to them, should be no charge. You will likely lose broadband if you are on an unbundled line (LLU). Check here:

If you are not on an LLU exchange then you may get away with just asking for a MAC code and giving that to BT.
