When I asked who they are insured with they said Elephant but they are a broker, if they dont tell me who they are insured with how can I find out? I have all their details and took pics of both of our cars at the time of accident with my mobile phone.
thanks again
Elephant are a direct insurer, not a broker.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I would advise you only to go through your insurance company give them all the details of what happened and driver details and they will get in touch with other drivers insurance company, my car was like yours drove away ok, looked not too bad from back but other car had to be towed out of the tunnel we were in as it would not start so again speed was the issue here to. If the other driver admits liability which I cant see how they cant as they went into back of you, you will pay no excess and it will not affect your insurance premim as its not your own insurance you are claiming. Under no circumstances accept £100 from them my car repairs was over £2000 and as I say it looked ok from back till they got under the boot, also your insurance company will want car sent to their own car repairers. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

just go direct to elephant via letter, if you go to your insurance it will cost you for the next 5 years an extra £30, it has me when someone hit myself.0

another question is: is there a limit of time in which to make a claim as 3 weeks have gone by and I have not informed any insurance as yet.0

Not really sure how someone running into back of you would put your insurance up? certainly didnt put mine up or lose no claims, your insurance company will find out as the other parties insurance will contact them. Call your insurance to enquire only about the time delay your only asking advice not logging a claim so nothing will be on your insurance. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

There are insurance companies who will increase your premium for non fault accidents as statistically you're more likely to claim for an at fault accident.0

Surely if you claim other drivers insurance through your own insurance then your not making an at fault claim, must be different insurers can only speak of own experience and it didnt affect my insurance in any way at all. As you shunt someone from behind its your fault. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

Different issuers work different ways, I had 2 non-fault accidents, back in 1998 and 2000, at the time (as is now), I'm a named driver on my fathers policy and vice versa, but I always do the ins renewals (the legwork,) and when was getting dads insurance quote, I'd rang his existing company, the usual has anything changed.......yes 2 non fault.......his insurance went up by £30 in a matter of seconds.
Def agree about getting the car checked properly, my accident in 2000 was a rear smash, my car looked like it was just the bumper etc, it wasn't till we lifted up the carpet in the boot, that it was noticed the boot had been split in half.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thats a shame they do that i must have been lucky, although person who hit me was with same insurer as me so maybe thats how? know what you mean about damage our car looked ok to till they lifted the boot and it was caved in, has to be checked for safety. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

Yes, but apparently insurance statistics (yes I know!) show that following a non fault claim that you are more likely to have an at fault/accident claim soon afterwards, therefore the perceived risk has increased and your premium is therefore increased.
In my experience particularly in recent years my insurance premium at renewal has almost without exception been more expensive than what I paid the previous year...and that's without any accident. If that's the norm how do people know their premium hasn't increased due to a non fault claim?0
