My favourite is Opera. I also use Firefox quite a lot and IE when I have to.

I've been using Opera since about version 5 and it's still my default browser. I quite like Firefox, but it's slower than Opera (especially to start up) and needs 12 extensions just to make it do what Opera does by default. I do like FF's personas though, they're quite cool and the Web Developer and Firebug extensions are great.
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.

The article only shows a PC link for Opera, but it is also available for Mac as well as other platforms but they are Alpha versions - download link.
The Opera for other devices is not alpha (at 10.10).

10.20 and 10.50 are in alpha, but for all platforms.

I'm another Opera fan. I've been using it since 9.64 and can't believe I put up with IE for so long. I did try Firefox for a couple of weeks before going to Opera but imho it's no faster than IE. It takes aeons to start up, load pages and grinds to a halt and crashes if you have more than half a dozen tabs open. I really did try to like it but in the end I hated it more than IE.

Opera just does everything you need without any fuss and that's all you need from a browser. :)

Chrome is also good but there's a few annoying quirks with it that I didn't like.

When connecting to the internet to-day a notice suddenly appeared on my screen stating that there were several browsers available to me and if clicked OK I would get a description of them all !
Where did this come from and who put this on my screen ? Plus is it worth changing to any of these from Internet Explorer 8 ? The notice was as follows:-

  • I used firefox for the last 4 years and now it is crashing often may be because of few add-ons I guess.
  • Depends on the usage if the browser browse more dynamic contents then chrome is the best one.

It was included in the Windows Update.

I prefer Firefox, like the layout.

Yes it was inlcluded in last night's Windows Update. I didn't install it and looking at that, I'm glad.

The reason why, which I think is ridiculous personally.
