EDIT: There's still some places left for 13-16 year olds for anyone wanting to send their kids there. And it's saying '£49* - All places on camp except for Looked After Children have been slashed to just £49*. Quick! Book today by completing the online booking form' but I'm not sure what the asterisk is there for :undecided More details in post #22

Original post:

Do it 4 Real holiday camps have just opened their booking for this year :T

http://www.doit4real.co.uk/

My daughter went to one last year and thoroughly enjoyed it so I've just booked for her again this year :D
About Di4R summer camps
Do it 4 Real summer camps are owned and operated by YHA England & Wales and have been running for six years. Thousands of young people have been on camp and relished the opportunity to try new activities, face new challenges, learn new skills, make new friends, grow in confidence and most importantly – have fun.
Essential facts:

· Camps last for 5 nights/4 days from Sunday to Friday
· During school summer holidays
· For young people age 10 – 19
· Huge selection of varied activities
· Price includes activities, accommodation, meals, excursions, equipment, instruction and return coach travel.
· Many locations in England
This is from the site about the price:
Do it 4 Real Summer Camps cost between £450 and £599. However, thanks to support from the Department for Children, Schools and Families, subsidised places are available to people living in England.

I wish to apply for a place at camp at the 'early bird' price of (tick appropriate box below): £269 - concession price for English residents and Looked After Children £129 - concession price for families eligible for Child Tax Credit £49 - concession price for families eligible to receive any of the following:
  • Income Support
  • Working Family Tax Credit
  • Free School Meals
The 'early bird' price saves you £30 off the full cost.

Here's a link to the thread from last year about it that gives people's opinions of the camps and other bits of info:

My stepson & niece have just been accepted
Their going to Osmington Bay on the 8th of august, it looks like they'll have a great time.
On the website they suggest taking £10 spending money, what do you normally give your children to spend??

When my daughter went last year there was nowhere to spend money while at the camp because they basically just do things there all day (Ravenstor - performing arts camp) But on the last day they went to Alton Towers (just says a surprise trip in this years brochure but assuming it's the same place) so she just needed a bit of cash for drinks and things while there - they had packed lunches provided so she didn't need to buy food or anything.

She absolutely adored it last year and is going to the same camp with a few of the ones she met last year and has been watching the site daily for when the bookings were open :D

The 'early bird' price that gets you £30 off is apparently until the 31st of March for anyone wanting to know :)

i sent my son with the £10 suggested but there were kids with a hell of a lot more money.

they dont really need a lot of money as they are on the camp the majority of the time i think he spent his on sweets (no surprise lol)

Has anyone sent their child on their own or have they always gone with a friend or relative?

Thanks shykins. What age was he? Mine is 10 in a fortnight's time but his friends out of his school year don't hit their 10th birthday till the summer and I'm not sure they would be interested anyway. It wouldn't be for the first time he's been away as he's camped with cubs since age 8 but it would be the longest amount of time with people he didn't know.
