The self service checkout at Tesco once required me (at age of 37) to be age verified to buy 6 teaspoons....apparently all cutlery is considered to be knifes by their system.

Teaspoons may be considered drug paraphenalia. The amount of teaspoons we had stolen by spotty faced youths when I was in retail was unbelievable.

I noticed this on a receipt for the times before, never got it.

When I worked at Comet we used to take it in turns on a sunday to go to the local sainsburys to buy all the sunday papers and then cut out all the comet adverts (and the rivals) for our boss's records. I ended up going in the end every week as the other 2 admin girls couldn't get served for the times! They were both 18 but didn't have driving lisences (and surprisingly dont take their passport to work), but never once could anyone explain why they needed ID.

Did any one ever ask the Times?
