If there has been a DVD included in previous weeks they sometimes forget to remove the till prompt when there is no DVD included.
When I worked at Sainsbury's Sundays were the worst day for papers not scanning or scanning at the incorrect prices and having to be manually corrected.0 -
It is a standard thing for the Sunday Times as it usually has a DVD or CD in it.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Because their levels of service are so shocking.
There was no DVD with it, the only thing that was free was a sample of green tea, and one assumes that isn't restricted either...
I am a member of the co-op, I bank with them, have a mortgage with them and have insurance with them. I also use their shops. I have never had a single problem and could vouch and say that their service especially with the banking is second to none.0 -

A DVD wouldn't make sense with an age 16 check as there is no age 16 certificate for films.
If a newspaper included an age restricted film, they'd need to be checking at 12, 15 or 18 (in this country).
I found this quote on the timesonline website...
"When we give away a DVD with a 15 or above age restriction, we are obliged to warn retailers that if they sell copies to customers below that age they could face legal action. The barcode is adapted to flag the restriction on the cashier's screen and on the receipt, advising them to ask for proof of age.
Sometimes, by mistake, that same barcode is applied to the following week's newspapers, leading to the above embarrassment. I think it is because there is no 12 or 15 prompt built into the system. When you scan any DVD (even U) you get a prompt which says Think 25 check age restriction of product and you then have to look at what certificate it is.
I guess they use the 16 prompt for newspapers as it might not be as easy to see what the certificate of the DVD is and 16 is the closest they have built into the system.0
