O2 Broadband - Puzzled?!?

I have checked on samknows what LLU options are available to me. I have been thinking of going to O2 for some time and querying on samknows, it says that the LLU operator presence at the exchange is enabled for O2/BE. So I thought, great!
However, having started signing up to O2, it is only offering me the Access service which seems a lesser service for higher cost than the other packages.
Having used other comparison sites, I get all these options for Be Unlimited and O2, but when I go on their sites, the search mechanism says the line does not qualify?!
Can anyone enlighten me as to why this is the case? I thought that selecting a provider that has LLU operator presence in the exchange should give me a higher speed selection. What is the difference between the Access package and other packages?

Possibly because the exchange is full and cannot take any more new customers.I thought that selecting a provider that has LLU operator presence in the exchange should give me a higher speed selection.
It can but it all depends on how far you are away from the exchange and whether or not the LLU operator uses ADSL2+. However it does normally give you cheaper options. What is the difference between the Access package and other packages?
The Access package is run over BT equipment - O2 pay BT and then you pay O2 but at a higher price than what you would pay if the service was over O2's own LLU equipment.
If Access is the only option for you on O2 then don't take it - it's subject to speed throttling and has many problems.
Perhaps give O2 a call and ask them to check although perhaps unlikely if the sign up shows only Access available.
Be uses the same equipment so you may still have the same problem there but have you tried?0 -

Be says its unavailable on my exchange. So looks like the choices for LLU are AOL, Talktalk (oversubscribed in this area), Bulldog (now talktalk) or Orange.
I might as well stay with my existing provider, Nildram (although also been taken over by talktalk).
No cable in our area either!
Thanks anywayThanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Wouldn't go with any of them.I might as well stay with my existing provider, Nildram (although also been taken over by talktalk).

Have you tried Plusnet?

I could use Plusnet, but am concerned because they are now owned by BT. What is their customer service record like? Any idea?

I have no idea I'm afraid.
I've just seen their name mentioned a few times on here when people have been looking for non-LLU providers.0 -
Have been looking at the Plusnet pro package as I tend to use at least 10Gb per month allowance. After the initial couple of months special offer, the price ups to £15.99. I am only paying £14.50 per month now, so for the sake of £44 saving over 12 months (discounted monthly price plus quidco cashback), it is probably not worth it.
I think I will stay put and see if the quality of service goes downhill with Nildram now they have been taken over by Talktalk.
