I'd have guessed £4, but don't really know.

Our local chemist does a passport photo service where they take the photos themselves. Similar price to a booth.
The advantage of this is that they can take as many digital photos as is necessary to get an acceptable one. They know the rules for passport photos (don't know if the same ones apply to blue badges) and so you're much less likely for the application to be returned due to the photo not being accepted. (And if it does come back for this reason they'll take them again for free!)
It's great for baby passport photos as it can really take quite a few attempts at getting it right.

Might be worth seeing if you have a chamist or photo shop that does this, OP? Might be easier to use than a booth...

£4 and they are very difficult to get right. :(

If there's a human operated alternative, could be worth a try.I haven't been happy with a booth generated one yet.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
  • I recently had passport photos taken by a proper photograper in a shop for £12. I got 6 lovely photos (I am ugly) and am very pleased with them. When I got home I could reproduce them thru my printer and you can enlarge as you wish. More to the point, I can reprint them for use on my bus pass, driving licence, gym membership and anything you can think of at no extra cost. ie. photos for life. I call that good value. Booth photos are rubbish.

Max Spielmann do them instore - not cheap (think it was about £6 for 8 photos) but they took a couple as we weren't happy with the first, and they reminded my friend to take his glasses off, which we wouldn't have realised otherwise.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Sadly not: you'll find that passport and driving licence forms both have a time limit for how recent the photos are. Don't ask me how they know whether my photos were taken 3 months or 3 years ago, because I'm not sure I can tell! But that's what the forms say.

If I knew of anywhere I could get a real human bean to take them, I would probably use such a service, but I haven't had any difficulty using the booths. You do need to take your time, but there is a guide to get your eyes at the right height, and it also shows you where to put your face (IYSWIM) so that you 'fit' properly. There are reminders to take your glasses off, keep your hair out of your face, and look grim, and I've not had photos sent back yet.

I used a machine the other day and it cost £4 for 4 photos, or £5 for 6 photos. There is a guide to help you get it right, and you could try 3 times if necessary. (Though not all machines are the same, of course!)
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • Hi,

    diy on computer.

Make a backdrop, or plain wall, get a mate to take a picture with digital camera or mobile phone, when you get a good looking photo, transfer to computer, and print off to required size, only cost, time, paper, ink.
