Mobile Broadband...please help me folks

Hi Everyone,
I could so badly use people's help right now. Does anyone know what the cheapest mobile broadband is and is it possible to get one without a contract, like pay as you go?
I know I could do this research myself but I have been through hell in the last couple of weeks and have moved in to stay with a friend, which may or may not be short term. Anyway, she only has limited access to the internet on her own dongle which I don't want to use up (hence me not searching) plus I feel like hell and can barely think straight. I just need to get the internet up and running somehow but she doesn't have a landline either, and because I may or may not be going home, I don't want to be tied to a contract, but if there's a cheap enough one I will do it.
I don't care about speed, I just want to get online as it's one of my only sources of comfort at the moment. Please help,
Thanks.

Check coverage with 3, O2, Vodafone & T-Mobile first.
How much will you use it?Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I believe the cheapest at the moment is 3UK. See https://www.three.co.uk - it's slightly cheaper on contract, but for short term or intermittent use, PAYG is far better.
Yes, you can do PAYG. Check your coverage before buying.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

most firms do mobile pay as you go dongles .They are governed by signal strengh and some other factors which will determine speed . I would find out what net work your friends on. It depend's on where you use it .
The other thing is things like iplayer and you tube eat data for a pastime even if you have good coverage .
Me I an on 3 £15 for 1gb over 30 days any thing not used will not be rolled over . I belive the others are the same in pricing0 -

Yes go dongle on PAYG at first. If you are using it more in future then get a contract.
Go with which ever network has the strongest signal where you are using it.
I've had best results with Voodofone and Three.

You can get 3 network prepaid dongles: 1gb, 3gb and 12gb. The 12gb costs £69.99 from Dixons online, or £79,99 from a 3 shop.
If you just browse, and don't play games or download films and music, 1gb can last for one month.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
