Time off work..

Eh, using up your holiday time from work and spending it at home pleasing yourself is not "doing nothing". It's valuable rest-time to be doing some relaxing and thinking, maybe even getting some cooking done for the freezer, baking something nice just for youself or ironing a few items for when you go back to work while watching Jeremey Kyle on the box. Luxury!0

I do tend to fill up the days and then regret not having just let myself laze around when I go back to work and I'm exhausted

This made me laugh though, so thank you!
God forbid anyone said that to my almost-in-laws at the age of 48, Pa is nearly 84 and Ma is nearly 78....and as I am almost 46 and get married in 7 months, I think my husband-to-be would like to think he has more than 17 summers with me (well, I hope he does!)0 -

Well she did say good summer and as we rarely get one of those in the UK perhaps 15 is right after all

I think I agree with you about he Jeremy Kyle, I wouldn't know as I've never watched it myself but it was the only day-time TV show I could think of.
Chilli and lemon cake? See, your day could never be said to be wasted when you're looking after yourself that well. I'll take a slice of that cake, thankyouplease0 -

I didn't do much on my time off either before kids. But I can tell you now I wish I had.
Now I have the children, I would give anything to have a lazy day, or travel off somewhere on my own.
Last summer I was going stir crazy during the summer holidays, and one weekend my husband agreed I could take off on my own for the day.
I went into London and was a tourist for the day on my own. Left the museums, thought they would be too busy, so did things that needed booking up. I went on a London Duck Tour, it was fantastic. I felt very naughty and had such an exhilarating day.
Enjoy the quiet times, but do also fit in some things of interest. I really wish I had done more before the kids came along.0
