Engagement Party

I got engaged on Christmas Day and I haven't had an engagement party I don't think we're going to have one either. I've not been to an engagement party either. Each to their own.

We got engaged in Ireland when we went over for my friend's Halloween party, so we kind of celebrated then with our friends there. Then a few weeks later we had a meal with friends at Bella Pasta, I think there was about 18 of us. My OH still lived up north then and he hadn't met everyone yet, so it was also kind of a meet and greet!

We had an engagement party but it was very low-key. I lived with my mum and dad at the time, and it was just before Christmas, so we bought lots of buffet food and cheap booze (including bottles of cava on a Tesco deal with Clubcard vouchers....) Invited about 40 people, mix of family/friends, and it cost about £70 all in. As a pressie, my mum and dad got us a photocake with pics of us as babies on it, and we had just decorated with some balloons and table confetti. It was lovely

Didn't have one in 1995, nor this time in 2009!!

We had a massive one was the best day ever. We had an actual wedding cake as an engagement cake and a dj with light show and a massive buffet and about 150 people i think. We all bought new outfits and decorated and everyone had an amazing evening. We are getting married abroad and will have a party like it when we get back. xx
