BT are advertising that they can offer the 'fastest ever broadband including a BT Accelerator'!
Anyone any experience of this and does it really 'provide a consistently fast connection for no extra cost?'

The BT Accelerator is just another name for the BT iPlate. It can improve your sync speed if you have extensions and have not either removed the ring wire connection or fitted an iPlate. http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php?type=html
This is not exclusive to BT and may offer no improvement anyway (although it often really will).
There are far better options than BT for internet...

It's misleading to say that the iplate could offer the 'fastest ever broadband' although I don't think I've seen the advert that you're talking about.
It can help with speeds but usually it's when you already have fairly low speeds of 1-2Mb/s that you'll see the biggest improvement.
It's true that there's no extra cost with BT, though. They're the only provider I know of that'll send you over a free iplate - if you're with another ISP you can pick one up for 6-10 quid.0
