How can ensure/find out if, my car was scrapped?

Recently had a new car under the scrappage scheme.
My car wasn't in too bad a condition but all things considered it was the best thing for me to scrap it.
Is there any way to check that my car has been scrapped and that the garage I signed it on to hasn't just sold it on etc?

Does it really matter?0 -
Why do you care?0

"Why do I care?"
1. I didn't get very good service from the garage and would hate to think they are profiting from a car that should have been scrapped..
2. As a tax payer it seems to me that the idea of the scrappage scheme only works if older cars are removed - if my car hasn't been scrapped what is the point of the £1000 from the government?
That will do for starters.Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
They gave you 2k for a 10 year + car. they cant profit from that.
Whatever the car was worth to you, it is worthless to them.
Check your reg plate/car on ask mid to see if it's insured? Theres another £3.50 down the drain. Otherwise they would have to have rung it which for a dealership selling brand new cars would be pointless and not worth the risk.0 -
Even if they did sell it on what are you going to do about it?0

You sold it, its got absolutely nothing to do with you what has happened to it,
why are you bothered.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I dont think the government money can be released until a certificate that the car has been scrapped can be produced by the dealership.0

what has that got to do with it? its obviously worked as you bought a new car. the scrappage scheme was designed to kick start the economy by selling cars, nothing else.
so pat yourself on the back for doing your bit for the economy. you did nothing for the environment, and the scrappage scheme was never about the environment anyway.
out of interest, what car did you scrap?...work permit granted!0 -

heres the most expensive v40 over 10 years old on ebay. i don't think the dealer will even get that price.
they range from £800 upwards.
if you think your car was worth more than the £2000 you got in scrappage then you should have sold it privately.
even if they did think it was worth trying to get more than £2000 for it you wil have signed something somewhere stating that it was just a trade in and not a scrappage car.
i really don't see your angle here and why this has such a bearing on bad service you received?...work permit granted!0
