have you checked to see if you are anaemic?
  • I suffer very badly from these. The only thing I have found that works I got in Germany. Its called Kamistad Gel. You might be able to get it on the net.
It sort of numbs the area for a while giving some relief.
  • I'm prone to mouth ulcers too, all the women on my mum's side get them, and frequently.
tried everything myself. nothing gets rid, just eases the pain for a time. the best stuff I've found, apart from rinsing with salt water, is something called Anbesol, it's an anaesthetic too, so numbs it for a while. comes in a gel or liquid

Mouth ulcers are evil and I think prevention is better then cure. (Sorry, thats not much help!)

Rest well, eat healthy (vitamins, nutrients etc) and try to reduce stress when you do manage to get rid of them, I think it can help to keep them at bay for the future.

I wish I could suggest a treatment for you, but IMO theya re all useless, not because they don't work (they do I am sure) but it just is madness trying to apply anything to the inside of your mouth and even harder when the inside of your mouth feels like its been thrashed with a thornbush! Theres one treatment called Bonjela Once which is slightly easier to apply in getting it to stay in one place (binjela or iglu paste seems to just roll right off the ulcer and down my throat) but OMG does that stuff KILL! You may need some sort of sedative to knock you out- like Morphine!! (joke) its very good but very expensive and very very painful. Make sure your very sure your hitting the ulcer and not elsewhere.
  • I get ulcers too but mine are always on my tongue rather than just inside my lips and cheeks.

I have found Aloclair mouthwash to be good. I buy it in Boots and it costs about £9 for a bottle.

There is that cotton bud thing that i forget the name of, it basically burns the thing away. It is more painful than anything else but it kills it dead and then its gone!

They are expensive though, sold in boots.
  • My DD gets them all the time and the doctor said it is due to lack of vitamin c and she now takes supplements and very rarely gets them
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Not Buying it 2015!
  • I read somewhere its vitamin b 12 you need ! :)
  • I am prone to mouth ulcer too.
When I asked my gp, I was told just use Bonjela or something.
Later I found out myself there IS something she could have prescribed which is better than Bonjela called "Medijel pastilles", it has some anticeptic in it too. I'm already not happy with my gp so this is another point up
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Have you sold your soul to the devil?
  • One method for me that works is dabbing a cotton bud in whiskey and dab it onto the ulcer - nips it a little but works for me!
