Pls help - best deal flight to Florida Easter 2011

Hi all
Just registered and this is my first post.
We are 2 adults and 2 children, looking to go from Manchester to Orlando area for 2 weeks fly drive (or flight and hire a car) at Easter 2011.
Right now the flights are £3550 for the 4 or us which I think is a lot. However many operators have not yet released their flights. Bizarrely Virgin Holidays are already booked up for some dates.
I am a firm believer in competition so would think the flights to be released by other operators later in the year will be good for competition and drive the prices down.
Do the seasoned travellers / knowledgeable deal-finders agree with me? Should I be biding my time - waiting for a good deal to appear later this year??

Hold on. Many operators do not sell seats for flights more than 330 days away.0

I booked flights for this Easter coming, around April last year (I think they release them 11-12 months beforehand). The direct flights were working out around £3200 for a family of 4, but I rang around the brokers (Ocean Holidays, etc) and went for indirect flights with Delta for £2080 into Orlando returning from Miami (we are adding on a few days at the end) including a car for 16 days. I know it adds a bit of time to the journey, but well worth the saving. If you can go a day or so before the schools break up it can also a bit cheaper.
Good luck!0 -
when the flights for this easter were released last year we got 4 seats from newcastle to atlanta via amsterdam for a total of £1100 bargain deal, same flights in dec were near that each. we were told that we got them that cheap because they hadnt factored in easter at the time. best to keep looking at kayak and then decide when you are happy and just book them. get your car via a broker, fifteen02.com are very good, we got a good deal with carhire3000.0
